First post + The hardest working boogie bag

In an effort to give back, I wanted to start a blog. In the future, you’ll find information on some of my favorite EDC tools and where to get them, how folks are using their goodwerks gear, so you can get some ideas, and maybe some other, random information.

Knowledge is power, right? Let’s get y’all powered up.

I don’t think it would be right if the first contributor post came from anyone but the officially unofficial goodwerks brand ambassador, caitlin. This gnarly endurance athlete has crushed hundreds of hours of pain and brutality, and has earned one of the most coveted patches in the military-style event arena. she is also one of two leaders of the Steel City Ruck Club in Pittsburgh, PA. Quite arguably the best club in the country. If there’s anyone out there that knows the ins and outs of the boogie bag, it’s her.

To Tim, I am known as the Bag Lady. It's a fitting nickname considering my affinity for expensive bags. You can keep your designer purses though, I'm talking about my extensive ruck collection. I don't collect them for show. I use and abuse each and every one of them, so I was the perfect person to test out his new Boogie Bag in Fall of 2020.

The rucking community has requested a fanny pack style bag for years and goodwerks listened and delivered. Tim sent me a Kryptek Typhon bag with blaze zipper pulls to put through the paces as a congrats for finishing Team Assessment. My only job in return was to try to destroy it.

Currently, it has been through over 125 hours of endurance events and countless hours of training and daily wear. It has held up through everything I've put it through. We are talking burpees, low crawls, water submersion, mud, resting coupons on the waist belt, etc.

Durability aside, let's discuss the reasons one may want a boogie bag and what I put in mine for events:

•SNACKS. You really shouldn't have to hear anything else. The convenience of having food within arms reach at all times is a luxury I never had during endurance events before the Boogie Bag. Typically, you have to wait for a rest break and you never really know when those will happen. With the Boogie Bag, if you feel your energy getting low, you have a solution right at crotch-level.

•Pain meds for those aching joints (close second to the snacks).

•Caffeine

•Gloves. If you're like me. You don't like to wear them for everything. The Boogie Bag makes them easy to safely stow away when not in use.

•Headlamp

•Chapstick

•Gum

But I don't just wear my Boogie Bag during rucking events, it's become a daily piece of gear for me.

I don't want to turn this into a gender piece, but we all know ladies struggle with finding durable clothes with pockets, especially secured zippered pockets, basically forcing us to carry a purse. The Boogie Bag is a perfect place to keep your phone, keys, ID, and money when you're out and about. Who needs a purse when you have a stylish hands-free fanny pack? Men, have you ever wanted to carry more than just your wallet and a couple small items, but don't want to look like Alan from The Hangover? The Boogie Bag is your solution to maintaining your manhood, while also carrying those extra items.

We covered durability and convenience. Next, I'll mention the thousands of different color combinations and add-on options. There is definitely something for everyone and the options are only increasing. Why do you think I already own 4? Much like my rucks, I need to have my options.

So I gave you a bunch of reasons why I love the Boogie Bag. You're interested. You go to the website and see the price and you say, "no thanks, I can get something similar for cheaper". I agree you can get a fanny pack cheaper, but it most definitely won't be similar. Tim can often be seen on Instagram Live while he's working. You can literally see the time, care, and thought he puts into each and every step of the process. These aren't factory built products. He will make sure each item holds up to his high standards before sending it out to you. He is a one man show and uses high quality materials. His customer service is timely and generous. So instead of spending your money on some Made In China bag that you will have to replace next year, support a hard-working American that puts out a product that's worth every penny you pay.

Still not convinced it's worth it? Did I mention it easily holds a 16oz beer?

I really appreciate caitlin taking her time to write this blog and take some photos of that well-used boogie bag of hers. her others haven’t been abused as much. This is the proverbial whipping boy. I’m hoping that it will eventually get destroyed, but it isn’t looking good.
