"Belly bag", "nut ruck", "hip pack", etc. These are all cool names for a bag that's been forced to sit at the "kids' table" as it were. The 80's brought us a fairly simple and genius solution for where to put our necessities (including the all important Walkman) whilst rollerblading. If you're like me, you never really experienced that, but it's an important pitstop along the highway of the fanny pack lineage.
Enter the "Boogie Bag". A handcrafted masterpiece of nylon greatness from Michigan . Yeah, you could say it's just another fanny pack, but you'd be wrong. For starters, I'd never be caught in public wearing a fanny pack. I wear my Boogie everywhere. My Boogies have accompanied me on Brew rucks, dog walks, kayaking, the gym and even just to town. It's just so damn convenient! Seriously, I carry a lot of stuff on a daily basis. This bag frees up my pockets, makes me feel lighter and not to mention, with all of the great patterns available, it looks good doing it.
For the ruckers among us, they really shine for the quickly needed items. Gloves, headlamp, ID, beer koozie, etc. A Boogie Bag keeps you from having to un-ass your weighted pack off-and-on throughout your day to get the things you need RIGHT NOW! I keep my dog's leash in one just for her walks, kind of a Boogie go-bag.
I found Tim and his company goodwerks on Instagram. We struck up an internet friendship and have since talked damned near every day. This guy pours everything he has into his work. goodwerks isn't just a gear company, it's a steadily growing community based on the idea that we should be doing good for each other. This idea is evident in Tim's fundraising and charity projects that he supports through his sales and raffles.
As of this writing, I own two Boogie Bags and an assortment of his smaller accessory pouches. Believe when I say, the quality is top tier. The attention to detail is mind-boggling. The design is well thought out, perfectly executed and as solid as they come. Hell, you can even see them being built right in front of you most days through his live IG feed. Bonus, you get cool tunes and great conversation while you watch.
If you love American, handmade items, great people, and convenience; the Boogie Bag is for you. You've got to be quick though. Every time he does a drop, as the fan base builds, they sell out more quickly. Seriously, we're talking minutes. Good luck!
